Viggle: We’d love to hear about Ø Studio and your unique journeys that brought you here!
Kiki: I launched Ø Studio with Davis in February 2024. My background is in digital media, specializing in video art, AR/VR, and generative art. I serve as the CTO and co-founder, focusing on AI tools. I discovered Viggle early on through your Discord channel and immediately saw its potential.
Davis: I come from traditional filmmaking, working on music videos, commercials, and vertical dramas. I started exploring AI tools during the pandemic, experimenting with early image-generation tools before Midjourney was even launched. The rise of NFTs inspired me to dive deeper into generative art.
Jieyi: My journey began as a fine art painter, specializing in oil and watercolor techniques. When I found it challenging to make a sustainable income, I shifted to product design. Now, with AI in play, I feel as though I’m rediscovering my creativity through a technological perspective. The blend of technology and human creativity truly inspires me.
Viggle: How did Ø Studio come together?
Davis: We were initially experimenting with Midjourney and Runway, using some of my old film scripts to produce test content. But it took about four months before we officially launched Ø Studio. We all had stable jobs but believed in this vision enough to go all in.
Kiki: AI is making high-quality production accessible, and we wanted to be part of that shift.
Viggle:What attracted you to using Viggle in your projects?
Kiki: We’d known about Viggle for a while, but the Lil Yachty stage entrance video really inspired us. Viggle’s ease of use stood out, even for us as AI-fluent creators. It’s incredibly user-friendly and efficient for high-quality motion capture.
Davis: Viggle is unique because it’s intuitive even for non-VFX experts. It allows us to achieve complex visuals without a steep learning curve, perfect for commercial projects or personal creative experiments.
Viggle: Tell us about your recent project with classical pianist Ayşedeniz Gökçin.
Kiki: Ayşedeniz is a classical pianist with a strong interest in AI technology. She discovered our team through one of our AI films, “Ørigin.” For her project, Ayşedeniz wanted to show how iconic composers might conduct a live concert. She was already using Udio to generate music and then recomposing it to her liking.
Davis: We collaborated to create a piece that showed Mozart conducting while Ayşedeniz performed live to an audience. We wanted the final result to be immersive and emotionally evocative, not just another AI gimmick. Viggle was crucial in bringing Mozart to life, and our vision gave it the depth and emotion that audiences could connect with.
Viggle:What was the workflow for this project?
- Image Creation: Midjourney was used to generate portraits of Mozart.
- Motion Capture: We recorded Ayşedeniz conducting.
- Face Swap and Style Transfer: Mozart’s face was overlaid onto Ayşedeniz’s motion, with Viggle capturing the nuances.
- Upscaling: We used Topaz for quality enhancement.
- Editing: Final editing was done in CapCut.
- Ayşedeniz showcased the video at the Creativity + Tech Summit at the Kennedy Center, Step Conference in San Francisco, and TED AI San Francisco 2024
Viggle: What excites you the most about AI’s role in creative projects?
Kiki: AI opens up tremendous opportunities, especially in storytelling and social media. It gives everyone tools to bring their ideas to life, empowering artists and allowing them to dream bigger without the usual financial constraints. We’ve seen clients feel re-energized and more imaginative when they realize what’s possible.
Davis: For filmmakers, AI allows for high-quality production without a massive budget. Sci-fi and surreal visuals are now achievable on a smaller scale, and quality storytelling no longer requires permission from industry gatekeepers.
We’re currently working on our own fully AI-generated animation series, N.O.W. (Nexus of Organic and Wired), which wouldn’t be possible without AI tools. We’re excited to see how these tools continue to democratize creativity.
